What makes a food kosher?
Kosher foods are manufactured in a facility that complies with dietary and sanitary requirements of Jewish Law. They must contain only kosher certified ingredients.
To attain certification, a field supervisor of the Kosher Supervision of America must inspect the equipment and materials. Everything has to "pass" this rigorous inspection.
'Kosher' is identified with quality, health and fine preparation.

Muslims and Seventh Day Adventists look for kosher foods since they follow similar dietary restrictions. It helps them make decisions regarding their special diets.
For Christians, kosher dietary laws are found in the Bible in Deuteronomy and Leviticus.

There’s NO dairy products in Awesome Almonds, so why are they designated “dairy equipment?”
The KSA-DE symbol indicates kosher and "dairy" by virtue of contact with equipment that may have had contact with a dairy containing product.
Our manufacturer made milk chocolates on the same machinery as our Awesome Almonds® at one time. This contact classified our products as DE for “dairy equipment.”
Since the roasting kettles are now used exclusively for our products that have NO animal ingredients, including dairy, we hope our next kosher certification will result in a plain "kosher" designation.
This all might seem "picky", but that's what "strict rabbinical supervision" is all about. That's why we're so proud of our kosher certification.
