Antibiotics Restricted by the F.D.A.
The F.D.A. has announced new restrictions on the use of antibiotics in the farming and ranching industry. It is their contention that the cephalosporin added to the diets of animals is causing strains of bacteria resistant to antibiotics. Farmers and ranchers give this antibiotic to their cattle, chickens and pigs to keep them healthy.
That may be well and good for the animals while they are alive but once consumed they seem to be contributing to human health problems. Public health officials have been concerned about the overall effects of use of antibiotics in these industries for decades. There is a need for a human to get a prescription for many of the antibiotics animals are given indiscriminately.
Consuming less red meat has long been prescribed for a heart healthy diet. Many substitute chicken for red meat but this could conceivably lead to other health problems. Embarking on a healthier diet without completely giving up meat certainly isn’t impossible but it may require some alterations to your routine.
You can get plenty of high quality protein, essential nutrients and healthy fats from all natural sources like almonds. Adding more fruits, nuts and vegetables to your diet and replacing high fat snacks with all natural alternatives can be a big step toward avoiding potential health issues and living a healthier life.
